Darcy at King County Democrats Picnic
With the Tuesday August 19th primary election drawing near, the mood at the King County Democrats Picnic this past Saturday was one of excitement, optimism and hope. But that sense of possibilty was grounded in a clear understanding of the hard work that still needs to be done to change the direction of the country. As candidates and elected officials took the mic each one spoke to the strong desire of voters to see progress in tackling the tough issues that we face.
The fastest way to make that kind of progress is to elect candidates like Barack Obama, Chris Gregiore, and Darcy Burner. When her turn came to speak, Darcy reminded the crowd that in order for Barack Obama to enact his change agenda as president he will need a receptive majority in Congress. Darcy is ready to go to Washington, D.C. to advocate for the 8th Congressional District and launch a new era of prosperity for the country as a whole.
Darcy will be a champion on issues like ending the war in Iraq responsibly, getting our economy back on track, protecting our environment, reforming healthcare, improving our education system, protecting a woman's right to choose and making sure the government stays out of people's private lives. Everyone who spoke that day -- including Darcy -- pumped up the crowd to get involved on a campaign, talk to their neighbors, phone bank, put out yard signs and, most important of all, vote. It was a fun day at the park with good food, great people and the lots of passion and determination to change this country for the better. Don't forget to vote August 19th!
