Darcy Visits High School Government Classes

Darcy encourages Bethel H.S. students to get involved.

Darcy went to Bethel High School and Spanaway Lake High School in Pierce County for an afternoon of visiting with Government classes. on January 30th. She had been invited by a couple of the Government teachers to talk with young people about the political process. Both teachers and students seemed to enjoy the visit and asked lots of great questions.

Many of the questions focused on: how to end the Iraq war, the budget deficit, what to do about an economic recession, how to protect the environment, how to rebuild our respect in the world, and about her views on universal healthcare and healthcare reform. Darcy gave straight forward answers to every question asked except for one.

When she was repeatedly asked, “Who are you supporting for President?”, her answer, much to the student’s dismay was always, “I will proudly support the Democratic nominee for president.” This caused the students to laugh and groan.

Over 30 students registered to vote and even more signed up to volunteer on the campaign. It was a fun and rewarding afternoon.

Darcy later delivers the same message to Spanaway students.
