Labor Day Picnics

Posted by Lynn on September 4, 2007

On Monday, Darcy attended both the Pierce County Labor Day Labor picnic at Wapato Park in Tacoma and the King County Labor Day Labor picnic at Woodland Park in Seattle.  The Wickline Family

Pierce County Picnic

There were probably about 120 folks at Wapato Park talking and eating and listening to some of the best music imaginable for the occasion - Bob Wickline and his family and friends.  Darcy talked to a lot of her labor friends, including pal, Jerry Beckendorf, below.

While there, Darcy signed a symbolic pledge to support the Employee Free Choice Act.  Patty Rose, Secretary-Treasurer of the Pierce County Labor Council, asked all the Democratic officials and candidates to sign publicly.  Here's Darcy doing so.  When asked later why it was important, Darcy said, "We need to make sure there is a level playing field for people who work hard." King County Picnic

The King County picnic was probably twice as large with labor folks and their friends spread over a large area of the park.  Here is Darcy talking with Mark Slack of SPEEA and another of her talking with Craig Salins and Marcee Stone of Washington Clean Campaigns.
