Congratulations, Washington Democrats
Darcy Burner offers her appreciation of the huge Democratic turnout on Caucus Day. “Eleven generations ago, the founding fathers of this country decided that ‘We the People’ could be trusted to govern ourselves. The active involvement of tens of thousands of citizens on Saturday was proof of the brilliance of that decision.”The State Democratic Party has estimated that over 200,000 people participated in caucuses across the state, more than twice the turnout in 2004, which was considered a record.
In 2004, over 8,000 people turned out in the 8th CD. That number was surpassed on Saturday in one single LD – the 41st, which reports on their website that 8106 people participated this year, more than three times the number that participated in 2004.
It will be exciting to have the full numbers of caucus participation in the 8th when we get that from all 10 LD’s that have some or all of their precincts in this district.
