Darcy’s “Responsible Plan” Receives National Publicity
Darcy Burner's 36-page "Responsible Plan to End the War in Iraq" has garnered a huge amount of national publicity. Darcy wrote the plan in consultation with leading retired generals and national security experts including retired Major General Paul Eaton.
National media outlets that have addressed the plan include The Washington Post, The Nation, MSNBC, and The Atlantic.
The plan calls for removing our troops safely from Iraq while ramping up political, diplomatic, economic and humanitarian efforts as military operations wind down. It also addresses the issues that would prevent a recurrance of the mistakes that led us into the current mess in Iraq. The "Responsible Plan" has been favorably mentioned by national security experts including Rand Beers, a counterterrorism expert who served under four Presidents, and Zbigniew Brzezinski, National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter.
A group of Democratic challengers also helped craft the plan and many were present when the plan was unveiled on March 17th at the "Take Back America" conference in Washington D.C. Since then many other Democratic Congressional challengers have signed on to implement the plan when they win in November.
Darcy decided to draft a plan six months ago after hearing from the voters in the 8th CD about their deep concerns about the Iraq War and their frustrations at the lack of movement to get the United States out of Iraq.
