Earth Day Founder Endorses Darcy Burner

Thirty-eight years ago I dropped out of Harvard to launch the first Earth Day. When I did so, I had no idea what the event would grow up to become. Earth Day now is a time for all of us to come together as a unified international community to celebrate the great beauty of our planet, and to reflect on what we can do to protect it from the growing threats of pollution and environmental degradation.

That is why I am so pleased to announce that I am enthusiastically endorsing her bid for Congress.

I have known Darcy for quite some time and have personally witnessed her deep commitment to doing what is right when it comes to stepping up to the serious environmental challenges that we face as a planet.

When it comes to the environment, Darcy gets it! But more than that, she gets what needs to be done, and knows how to get there. She will represent more than merely a vote we can count on and a voice on these issues that are important to each of us - she will take on the tough political battles we need to fight if we are to bring our planet back into balance. She is a true environmentalist.

Between now and this November, I urge you to help Darcy in any way you can. Earth Day's success, like Darcy's campaign, relies heavily on the commitment of hard working volunteers. Many of you were contributors and volunteers for Darcy in 2006 and I know that you will have the same commitment to her campaign this year. This time, with your help, she is going to win - and our planet will be better as a result.

Thank you for your support of Darcy!
