The Neighborhood Leaders Program
Darcy Burner has developed a far-sighted grassroots program to help organize in every precinct in the 8th CD. Partnering with the local Democratic organizations and the State Democrats, the campaign is focused in January on helping find people to assist the local legislative districts with running the caucuses. The Neighborhood Leaders Program is designed to build neighborhood and community connections. It encourages neighbors to get together and talk about how their personal issues connect to the local and national political issues of our day. A gathering can be as informal as a discussion of 'today's headlines' at a barbeque to a formal discussion following a political film.
Neighborhood leaders will work in small groups in each neighborhood or precinct to organize both social and political events and to let people know about events happening at the local or regional level. They will work with the existing precinct officer, when there is one, and help to find someone to fill that role if there is not someone currently doing it.
Darcy views this new program as a robust, long-term means for strengthening community and building stronger loyalty to the ideas and candidates of the Democratic Party. Both the State Democratic Party and the DNC are developing similar programs and the campaign is working with them to make this a grassroots-focused year for Democrats.
Sign up to volunteer if you are interested in being a part of this new grassroots program to rebuild the Democratic Party from the ground up and elect more and better Democrats at every level.
And don't forget to go to your caucus meeting on Feb. 9th.
