Darcy’s Statement on the National Guard Troops Heading Back to Iraq
Darcy released the following statement early yesterday:
“This afternoon 2,400 Washington State National Guard troops of the 81st Brigade are shipping out for a second deployment to Iraq. As the daughter of a veteran, the wife of a veteran, and the sister of an Iraq vet, I know personally how many sacrifices our men and women in uniform make to protect this country. So today I want to express my gratitude to these brave citizen-soldiers, and to honor them for their service. I wish them well on their tour, and will hope and pray for their safe return.”

TPMtv Interview of Darcy at Netroots Nation
Talking Points Memo managing editor David Kurtz interviews Darcy at Netroots Nation. Their conversation ranges over the elections of 2006 and 2008 as well as her recent personal crisis. Topics for 2006 cover her near victory and the help provided to her campaign by national Democratic groups.
Grassroots participation in Democratic politics this year in addition to Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee assistance for her current bid provide sources for discussing the 2008 election. The exchange concludes with the fire that destroyed Darcy's home, including the upwelling of sympathy and offers of aid from her community bolstered by the support extended to her campaign to assure her election to the House of Representatives.

Darcy’s Five Principles
Darcy has articulated five principles that will guide her decisions when she is in Congress. She says that people can pretty much figure out how she will vote on any issues based on these principles:
- Government should treat everyone fairly.
- Hard work should be rewarded.
- Government should stay out of people's private lives.
- We should keep our promises.
- We should leave our children a better world than the one we found.
