Bellevue (Sept. 5) – Darcy Burner today issued the following statement regarding the news of former Rep. Jennifer Dunn’s tragic passing:
“I was shocked to learn this morning about the tragic passing of former Washington Republican Party chair and 8th District Rep. Jennifer Dunn. Coming on the same day as the funeral service for her one-time Democratic counterpart, former Democratic state party chair Karen Marchioro, made the news doubly difficult for me. Both Jennifer and Karen were trailblazers in Washington State politics, and served as role models for women like myself. My heart goes out to the grieving families of both, and to the many others across the state that knew and loved them.
“While Jennifer Dunn and I belonged to different political parties, I have always thought of her as an example for women in both local politics and in Washington, D.C., where she was the first woman to serve in her party’s congressional leadership. She will be sorely missed.
