There is Hope in the Political World

(September 26, 2007, page A-4) Living in Pierce County can give you a jaded view of politicians in general, but I have decided there is some hope. I’ve had several occasions to hear talks by candidate for U.S. Congress Darcy Burner, and I have been impressed every time.
Darcy’s father was once stationed at McChord and also worked as a Park Ranger at Mount Rainier with the family living in a singlewide in Ashford. She knows and relates to our area. She had a brother who served in Iraq and she is concerned about the future of our children.
While recently addressing a small group near Eatonville, Darcy shared her basic principles for governing:
- Hard work should be rewarded.
- Government should treat everyone fairly.
- Government should stay out of people’s personal lives.
- Government should keep it’s promises to people.
- We should take care of our children and leave them a better world.
Darcy Burner applies these principles to the problems currently facing our government and has a good grasp of the most important issues. She believes there is no military solution to the war in Iraq and that we should be working toward a political solution while our troops are there. She also strongly believes in reform and improvement to our nation’s health care system.
I would vote for her without hesitation.
